Remember that one week in 2018 when the air was so clear you could see the mountains from downtown for five straight days
It was right after a bunch of factories shut down for maintenance and a storm came through and I drove my kids to school without the AC recirculating because the air actually smelled like trees instead of exhaust, and has anyone else noticed how rare those stretches of clean air are getting even compared to just a few years ago?

nah man i gotta disagree. i remember that week too and it was nice but the air quality has actually been getting better where i live. just last month we had like a solid 10 day stretch of green air quality index numbers. the local paper was even talking about how the old coal plant shutdown made a real difference. i mean yeah we still get bad days when the inversion sets in but compared to the early 2000s its way better. maybe your area is going the other direction but around here the data backs up that we're getting more clear air days not less.

a solid 10 day stretch" - must be nice but that's not what most of us are seeing.
