My town swapped out old streetlights for LEDs and the change is wild
Our city council voted to replace all the high-pressure sodium streetlights with LEDs about 8 months ago. I was skeptical at first, worried about the upfront cost and the light color. But the new ones use about 60% less energy, which is a huge win for the city's carbon footprint. The old orange glow is gone, replaced by a clearer white light that actually feels safer. My electric bill for my own outdoor lights went down a bit too, since I followed their lead and switched mine. The project paid for itself faster than they thought because of the energy savings. Honestly, seeing the direct link between a simple infrastructure change and real energy cuts made me a believer. Has your city made a switch like this, and did you notice a difference?

The new LEDs around my neighborhood are so bright I caught myself checking my reflection in a car window to see if I was picking my nose. Old orange lights were forgiving, these things reveal every bad decision you made on the way home. Still, I swapped my porch light to a warmer LED bulb so I don't feel like I'm under an interrogation lamp every time I walk the dog.

You mentioned the light color feeling safer. Honestly, did the switch make any areas feel too bright or harsh compared to the old orange glow?
