I bought a $200 'smart' thermostat that actually raised my energy bill

It was supposed to learn my schedule and cut heating costs. After three months, my bill went up by about $15 each month. The app kept overriding my settings to 'comfort mode' without telling me. Has anyone found a simpler thermostat that actually saves money?

Actually, those smart thermostats need a few months of data to learn properly. Might be worth checking the app settings to turn off that auto comfort mode.

I mean @robinl90, is a few months really that big a deal for a thermostat?

Is it just me or does my thermostat have a better memory than my own brain sometimes? I swear mine has been learning for six months and still thinks I want it to crank the heat at 3 AM. Guess my house is smarter than me at this point.
