Heard a guy at the hardware store say electric lawn mowers are useless for real yards - here's my take

So I'm at Ace Hardware this morning picking up grass seed and I overhear this older guy telling the clerk that battery mowers are just toys for city lots. He said nothing beats gas for a half acre yard. I've been using a Ryobi 40V mower for 3 seasons now on my 0.6 acre lot in Ohio and it handles everything fine. Sure I swap the battery once but it's quieter and I don't smell like gas. Has anyone else switched and found it works better than folks give credit for?

That gas crowd is stuck in the past, my Ryobi handles my yard just fine too.

I've been using battery mowers for a while now and honestly the only time I miss gas is when I forget to charge the battery the night before. Then I'm out there with an extension cord looking like a total clown trying to reach the back corner of my yard. The silence is what sold me though - my neighbors actually wave at me now instead of giving me dirty looks at 8 AM on a Saturday. Plus my wife doesn't complain about me smelling like a lawnmower when I come in for lunch. The gas crowd can keep their fumes and earplugs while I sip my coffee and trim in peace.
