Guy at the hardware store lectured me about my mower emissions
I was buying a new spark plug last Tuesday, and this older guy just walks up and starts telling me my gas mower is worse for the climate than driving a truck to work... He said a half hour of mowing puts out the same as a 100 mile drive. I just wanted to get my lawn cut without a guilt trip, you know? Has anyone else had a stranger get preachy about everyday stuff like this?

Actually read something about this a few months back in a science magazine at the station... it's not that cut and dry. That comparison depends on a lot of things like how old your mower is and what kind of truck you're driving. My buddy's an environmental engineer and he said the numbers get thrown around but they're usually worst-case scenarios. Guess the old guy was just trying to sound smart or something... people love dropping random facts to feel superior. Honestly, most of us are just doing our best with what we've got, a little common sense goes a long way.
