TIL that charging for 'interpretation time' stops the vague brief madness in its tracks
I had a client who kept saying 'just make it modern' with zero direction and then flipping out when the result wasn't their secret vision. After the third full redo, I hit them with a line item for $200 labeled 'estimation of hidden meanings' and made them approve it before touching anything. They paid it once, but then suddenly they started writing actual bullet points and reference links like they had a deadline for a thesis. Is that a fair tool or just a petty way to teach people how to communicate? I'm curious if anyone else has billed for mindreading before.
