I used to think charging for revisions was just a way to nickel and dime people, until a logo project ate 11 weeks
That logo for a bakery in Portland took 11 weeks and 27 rounds of tiny tweaks because the owner kept showing it to her cousin, so now I add a revision cap at the start and nobody has blinked at it yet, does anyone else put a number on revisions or just bill hourly?
Curious how you actually word that cap when you send the contract over, because the number itself matters way less than what happens when they hit it. Do you stop all work cold until they pay for another round, or do you let them go over and just bill the extra time at your rate? I ask because 27 rounds tells me that client wasn't just picky, she was treating you like an unlimited design buffet with no cost to keep going back. A cap only works if there's a real wall behind it, otherwise it's just a number on paper they blow right past. What do you say when round ten hits and she's still texting her cousin?
