Turned down a 12k job because the owner kept saying 'make it pop'
Last month I had to pick between a bakery wanting a full rebrand for 12k and a smaller coffee shop with a 6k budget. The bakery owner described every mood board as 'almost there but make it pop' and asked for 4 completely different directions in one week. I went with the coffee shop instead, and it turned out they had a clear idea, paid half upfront, and gave me 3 weeks without hovering. That bakery called me twice since asking if I changed my mind, and I heard through another designer they burned through 3 people in 8 weeks. Has anyone else walked away from bigger pay just to avoid a vague 'make it better' client?

Vague clients burn cash on rework, so that 6k probably beat 12k hourly.
