The day a client asked me to 'make it pop more' 47 times in one call
I was on a Zoom call with a boutique owner in Portland last month and she literally said 'can you make it pop more' after every single revision I showed her. By the 30th time I realized she had no idea what she actually wanted, she just knew she didn't like what she was seeing. Now I send clients a short form asking for specific examples of designs they like before I even start. Has anyone else dealt with a client who just kept repeating the same vague feedback over and over?

Used to roll my eyes at people who sent those forms before a project, thought it was overkill. But after a similar experience with a client who kept saying things needed to "feel different" without any details, I finally get it. That simple form saved me so much wasted time, now I swear by it.

You know what, I used to be exactly like that too. I thought sending a form before starting felt like I was being a control freak or something. But last year I had a client who kept saying they wanted it "warmer" over and over, and I swear I went through 20 different shades of orange before I figured out they meant they wanted actual pictures of fireplaces and candles. That form thing sounds kind of genius now honestly.
