That client who wanted a logo in 3 hours for $50 cost me $200 in lost time

I spent an afternoon scrambling to meet their deadline and they ghosted me after I sent the first draft. Has anyone else had clients who think urgent means free?

Wait, $50 for a logo in 3 hours? I thought my $100 rush job horror story was bad but that's just insulting. Who even accepts that low of a rate for rush work? I've had people try to negotiate my rush fee down before, but that's just straight up robbery with a smile.

Man, that's rough... I started charging a rush fee after a similar thing happened to me. It doesn't have to be huge but just enough to make them think twice before pulling that stunt. Now I ask for half up front on any urgent job too, weeds out the time wasters pretty quick.
