Overheard a client say 'just pick any font' and my soul left my body
I was cleaning a client's home office last week and they were on a Zoom call telling their web designer to just grab any font from Google because it didn't matter. They were paying $2,000 for that site. Has anyone else witnessed clients treating typography like it's nothing?

Did you ever try just showing them two sites side by side? One with a boring default font and one with something that actually fits their brand. I had a client who said the same thing so I mocked up their homepage in Arial and then in a proper font they liked. They changed their tune real quick when they saw how cheap the first one looked.

Fair point, but Arial isn't really a "boring default" in the same way Times New Roman is. Arial was actually designed to be a clean, modern sans-serif, which is why a lot of brands use it on purpose. Still, you're right that showing the difference side by side usually does the trick better than arguing about it.
