Is it a red flag when a client asks for 'just a small change' before signing the contract? Two of mine did that last month and both turned into scope creep nightmares.
I had two different clients in the last 6 weeks ask me to 'quickly adjust the color palette' before I even had a signed agreement. Both times I thought I was being helpful. First one ended up wanting 14 revisions across 3 brand assets. Second one ghosted after I sent the final invoice. DAE think this 'pre-sign tweak' is a major warning sign, or am I just unlucky? How do you all handle this?

Respectfully, I see it a little differently. A small pre-sign request can be a good test of how the client communicates and whether they treat your time as valuable. Your mileage may vary, but in my experience, setting a firm boundary about non-paid work upfront actually weeds out the trouble clients before they waste your time.
