I used to promise clients unlimited revisions until one project went 47 rounds

Had a client in Austin last year who kept tweaking the logo color, back and forth 47 times over 3 months. I was too scared to say no because I wanted to keep them happy. Then my profit margin on that job went negative, way into the red. Now I cap revisions at 3 rounds and bill for extras, has anyone else had a project spiral like that?

The 47 round revision is basically the business equivalent of digging a hole to China and wondering why your shovel broke. Had a similar situation with a restaurant menu design where the owner kept asking to "make the font happier" every other Tuesday. Ended up showing them 12 shades of beige before I finally said enough. My therapist says I need to work on my confrontation issues, but at least now I just charge by the revision hour instead of flat rate.

Heard a podcast say the word "happier" in design requests is a giant red flag every time...
