I found out a client's 'small startup' had 3 employees and $50k in debt
So I had a call with this guy who wanted a full rebrand and a new site. He kept saying 'we're a small startup' and 'we're just getting off the ground.' I did a quick search and found his company on a state business site. It listed 3 employees and a bunch of unpaid invoices from 2022. I also saw a post on Reddit where someone in Austin complained about not getting paid by the same guy. I asked for a deposit and he said he'd pay after the first round. I passed on the job. A friend of mine took it and got burned for $1,200. Has anyone else had a client lie about their size or budget like this?
