Last Tuesday was the weirdest day I ever had sweeping
I showed up to a job in Oak Park and the homeowner had already swept the whole flue herself with some kit from Amazon. She said she watched a YouTube video and wanted to save the $150. Then I had to actually check her work and found a bird nest jammed way up top that her little brush missed. It took me an extra hour to pull it out and she kept hovering over my shoulder asking questions. Has anyone else had homeowners try to do your job before you get there?

Funny you mention that, I actually just saw a post the other day about how YouTube is creating all these "DIY experts" who end up creating more mess than they save.

Okay, you say she "hovered" and asked questions which sounds annoying, but honestly that sounds like a homeowner who actually cares about learning and understanding the work being done on her house. If she watched a YouTube video and tried to sweep it herself, that shows initiative and a desire to be involved, not laziness or cheapness. Maybe instead of being annoyed by her questions, you could have seen it as a chance to explain what you were doing and build some trust with a customer who might recommend you to all her Oak Park neighbors.
