I left the liner out of my chimney repair and have no regrets

During my living room update, I chose not to install a new metal liner in the chimney. The original clay flue was in great shape after a thorough cleaning. I've had two cleanings since then and performance is perfect. Folks push liners hard, but they aren't always needed for older, well-built chimneys.

Ever worry about what happens in twenty years?

Worrying about 20 years from now seems ambitious. I'm still catching up on emails from last month.

But what if the emails you're catching up on now are about planning for that future? Like a retirement account notice or a school district rezoning alert.
