Finally caved and bought a $300 thermal camera for inspections
Had a call about a drafty fireplace in an old brick house, and the camera showed a clear heat leak around the damper frame I would have missed. It paid for itself on that one job by finding the real issue fast. What's the most useful piece of gear you've bought lately?

Yeah, it's wild how those tools change the whole conversation with a client. You go from "trust me" to "look at this picture, here's the problem." Cuts out so much back and forth arguing about what needs fixing.

Honestly, I'm still using my old moisture meter from like ten years ago and it's a workhorse. Makes you wonder how we ever found leaks without these tools, just poking around and guessing. That thermal camera sounds like it cuts out so much of the headache.

Remember my buddy tried to use his old moisture meter on a slab last year, thing just blinked at him. Totally get what @alicel10 means about showing the proof, not just talking. Makes the whole job smoother.
