Customer said my sweep job left a mess on her white carpet
She pointed out a line of soot I hadn't even noticed near the hearth. Now I tape down a drop cloth even on short jobs, saved me four callbacks this year. Anyone else have a client catch something you overlooked?

The "line of soot" bit actually sounds more like a smudge from a broom bristle than a missed spot. If your brush is hitting the edge of the hearth wrong, it leaves a thin gray stripe that's easy to miss until it dries. Try checking your broom angle before you start, that little tweak cut down my own missed marks a ton.
