Watched a line cook in Austin flip eggs with a paint scraper and nobody batted an eye
Stopped at a little breakfast spot off South Congress last weekend and the flat top was right there behind the counter. The guy working it had lost his spatula somewhere in the rush, so he grabbed a paint scraper from a bucket under the grill and just kept going. He slid it under 6 eggs in a row, folded them perfect, and the owner walked by and didn't even look twice. I ran a tree crew for 11 years and we do the same thing with the wrong tool all the time, so I get it, but watching a cook do it in front of a full dining room was something else. What's the weirdest thing you've grabbed when your real tool went missing mid rush?
