TIL that $300 mandoline nearly cost me a fingertip

Bought a fancy Swiss mandoline last month for $300 thinking it would speed up my prep for a catering gig in Austin. First day using it, the guard slipped and I sliced halfway through my left index finger, spent 4 hours in urgent care instead of finishing my orders. Anyone else had a fancy tool fail on safety and switch back to the cheap stuff?

Wait, FOUR HOURS in urgent care just for a finger slice? That's NUTS. I cut myself pretty bad once on a cheap mandoline and I was in and out in 45 minutes with a few stitches. What took so long, did they have to do surgery or something? I would have been FURIOUS sitting there with catering orders piling up. Honestly after that I'd probably smash the thing against the wall before asking for a refund.

Did you get a refund for it or just stuck with a busted finger and a useless slicer?
