PSA: That $300 'professional' mandoline is a total scam

I bought one for a high-volume brunch spot and it shattered after two weeks, costing me $150 in wasted product and downtime. Anyone know a brand that can actually handle restaurant abuse?

Maybe you just got a bad unit, mine's been a tank for years.

120 bucks in wasted product from a single shattered mandoline? Man that's rough. I had a similar thing happen with a cheap brand last year and it cost me a full case of bell peppers and a trip to urgent care for my finger. People saying "you got a bad one" don't get that in a pro kitchen, even one dud can mess up your whole week. That downtime alone is killer when you're trying to crank out brunch service.
