Just realized my 15-year-old kitchen shears were duller than I thought after borrowing a new pair for one shift

I used those old Henckels for everything at home thinking they were still sharp, but after my sous let me use her new shears to break down a chicken last Wednesday, I saw how much extra force I had been using and never noticed, has anyone else had a tool they were loyal to for years turn out to be the weak link?

Kitchen shears are one of those things people don't realize wear down gradually since you're using them every day. Henckels are solid but their edge retention on shears isn't as good as some of the newer stamped blades from Victorinox or Mercer. Did the new pair feel noticeably lighter or just sharper?
