Why does nobody talk about the hassle with carpet seam tape?
I've always struggled with carpet seam tape not sticking right in humid weather. Last week, I tried pre-heating the tape with a hair dryer (weird, I know) and it worked like a charm. Has anyone else found a simple fix for this, or am I just late to the party?

Actually, everyone blames humidity but cold weather ruins it too. Tape gets brittle in winter, then just snaps when you unroll it. Your hair dryer trick would probably help there too, warm it up first. Makes you wonder if the tape itself is just cheap now. They don't make stuff to last through seasons anymore.

You sure it's the tape and not how we treat it? My grandpa's old tape in the garage still works fine because he kept it inside. People buy the dollar store stuff then act shocked when it breaks. Maybe we just expect too much from basic adhesive.

Honestly, my first try with seam tape looked like a toddler did it, all wrinkled and bubbly. I was so bad I almost glued my shoe to the floor. The hair dryer trick is smart, I'll have to try that next time. It's like the tape needs a little pep talk and some warmth before it decides to work right.
