Took me 8 years to ditch the power stretcher for hand knee kicker on stairs

I used to bring the power stretcher everywhere, even for a simple 12 step staircase in a condo in Tampa. Last spring I had a job with these weird curved stairs and the power stretcher kept slipping off the nosing, so I grabbed my knee kicker out of frustration. Honestly after that day I switched for all residential stairs, the control is way better and I can feel the tackstrip bite without wrecking the padding underneath. Anyone else made the switch or still think the power stretcher is safer on long runs?

Wait, you mean to tell me you were hauling a power stretcher up stairs for 8 whole years before that? Just picturing you wrestling that thing on a curved staircase makes my back hurt. I get why you switched though, knee kickers give you that instant feedback on the tackstrip, and on stairs with weird angles, that feel matters more than raw tension. I still use the power stretcher for long hallways and big open rooms, but for steps, I've been kicking it by hand since day one. Different tools for different jobs, but I totally respect the moment of frustration that led you to the light.
