That power stretcher attachment from the flea market in Tulsa was a total waste

Picked up a used power stretcher attachment for $60 at a flea market in Tulsa last month, thought I was getting a steal. Got it home and the teeth were worn down so badly it wouldn't grip the carpet at all. Spent a whole afternoon on a living room install in Broken Arrow fighting with it, finally had to borrow a neighbor's stretcher to finish the job. Lesson learned, stick to buying from a proper supply house where you can inspect the teeth before handing over cash. Has anyone else had luck rehabbing old stretcher heads or is that just throwing more money away?

Man, that brings back memories of my pop's old toolbox where he'd keep a beat-up stretcher head wrapped in tape like it was some kind of treasure. Those worn teeth ain't worth reconditioning unless you're real handy with a file and have a few spare hours to kill, but the real trick is checking the pivot pin, not just the teeth. If that pin's got any slop, you're fighting the tool the whole job no matter how sharp you get the teeth, so that's where the real value hides.
