That $15 knee kicker pad from the hardware store actually saved my knees

I've been installing carpet for 6 years and always thought those gel knee pads were a gimmick, but last week I had a 3 day job in Columbus with a lot of stair work. My right knee was killing me by day 2, so I grabbed one of those cheap pads on a lunch break. Honestly the difference was night and day, I finished the stairs without limping and even ran a few extra cuts after. Has anyone else found a piece of cheap gear that made them question why they waited so long?

Three days of stairs would make anyone consider surgery, so I get the appeal. But I’ve seen guys swear by a $5 foam pad one week and a $40 magnetic brace the next, you know how it goes. Give it a month of daily use and see if your knee still thanks you, that’s the real test.
