Rant: That stretch-in seam sealer cost me a whole bedroom job

I spent $45 on a bottle of that stretch-in seam sealer after a sales guy in Charlotte swore it would save me time on a 12x14 bedroom. Ended up with a lumpy seam that the homeowner noticed right away, had to rip out 60 square feet and redo it with traditional tape and glue. Anyone else tried this stuff and had it fail?

That sales guy probably never laid a foot of that stuff himself. Sounds like typical push from a distributor trying to move slow product. I've seen it bubble up bad in humid rooms, especially near windows. Stretch stuff just doesn't bond right on old plywood subfloors either. Stick with the tried and true tape and glue method, it's cheap and it works every time.

Had a buddy try that stretch stuff and it peeled up like a bad sunburn within a month.
