Power stretcher vs knee kicker for a 20-foot hallway

I had to pick between my power stretcher and knee kicker for a long hallway last week. Went with the power stretcher since the hallway was 20 feet with no doorways to stop me. Any of you guys use a knee kicker for long runs or do you always bust out the big gun?

The knee kicker CAN work for long runs if you know what you're doing but it's way harder. I've done 20 foot hallways with just a knee kicker before and it's all about taking small bites and stretching from both ends toward the middle. You gotta work it inch by inch and check your tension as you go. Power stretcher is definitely faster and more forgiving though, especially if you're not doing this every day. No way would I try using the knee kicker on anything past 25 feet though, that's just asking for trouble.

Oh man, that 20 foot hallway sounds like a perfect setup for the power stretcher. I did a 25 foot run in my own house last month and there's no way a knee kicker would have gotten it tight enough. You'd be popping the carpet back up at the other end for sure. I remember trying to stretch a hallway like that with just the knee kicker once and I ended up with wrinkles everywhere. It was a mess. You made the right call going with the power stretcher for sure.
