My buddy swore by a regular utility knife for cutting padding, but I tried a hook blade last month and it's a total game changer.

My friend Dave was cutting foam for a couch cushion last year, he was using a box cutter and fighting with it. I handed him my knife with a hook blade and he just stared at it. He sliced through three inches of that dense foam in one smooth pull, didn't even snag the fabric underneath. He bought a pack of hook blades that same afternoon.

Honestly, that's the perfect example of why hook blades exist. @wyatt_fox68, you really did that guy a solid because fighting with a regular blade on dense foam is a recipe for cutting yourself or ruining the piece. Ngl, a lot of people don't realize the hook pulls the material toward the blade instead of pushing it away, so it just bites right in. Tbh, once you use one for that kind of stuff, you'll never go back to guessing with a straight blade again.

Honestly that's the exact right use for it. Tbh a regular blade can work for thin stuff, but for thick padding the hook just glides. Total no brainer for that job.
