I finally had to admit my old knee kicker was done for

The pin sheared clean off on a job Tuesday in a two-story colonial. Had to finish the last room with just a power stretcher, which was a real pain. It was a Roberts 110, bought it used back in 2015. Anyone have a good replacement model they like under $300?

What kind of carpet were you installing when it broke? I've heard that old Roberts can struggle with really dense berber or thick commercial stuff.

Read a forum post once where a guy said his old Roberts 104 just gave up on a dense loop pile commercial carpet. Said the motor sounded like it was straining for a full minute before it just quit with a burning smell. He figured the pile was just too much for the older gears to pull through. Makes sense that a really thick berber would cause the same kind of stress.
