Had a job in a 1920s house in Tacoma last month where the floor sloped a full inch over ten feet.
My old knee kicker just wasn't cutting it on that angle. I ended up using a power stretcher from the high side and tacking it down in sections, working my way across. It took an extra hour but saved a ton of material from getting wasted. What's your go-to method for a really bad slope?

Had a house in Portland with a slope like a ski jump, maybe an inch and a half over eight feet. I did the same thing, power stretcher from the high point and working down in small bites. The key for me was using a ton of extra staples on the high side before each pull, so it wouldn't creep back. It's slow going, but you're right, it beats cutting a bunch of material just to fight the wrinkle.

That extra stapling trick from @wren301 sounds like the only way to win on a slope that bad.

Oh man, that makes a lot of sense actually. @the_lee I gotta ask though - when you're working that high side with all the extra staples, are you finding the carpet wants to buckle or bubble up in between the rows before you get to the next pull? I tried something similar on a tricky staircase once and ended up with these weird little ripples showing up like a day later. Like the staples were holding but the material itself was fighting me.
