Am I the only one who thought glue-down was a scam until I tried it?

I spent 10 years only doing stretch-in carpet because I figured glue-down was just builder grade junk that would fail in a year. Then I did a 2,000 sq ft commercial job in Austin last spring with a heavy traffic carpet and it’s still tight as a drum. Has anyone else changed their mind on a technique they used to hate?

Nah, you gotta look at the install quality. If the subfloor is prepped right and you use the right adhesive, glue-down holds way better than stretch-in for high traffic spots. No padding to flatten out, no ripples ever. Ever try pulling up a glue-down that was done right? That stuff is bonded for life.

Man, I'm still not sold on glue-down. I've seen too many jobs where the edges curl up or it starts peeling after a couple years, especially in humid climates. Feels like a shortcut that saves time now but costs you later.
