Warning: a $9 tube of DAP Alex Plus saved my window trim job after the caulk I trusted cracked in 2 winters
I used the fancy $14 silicone caulk on the exterior trim of a porch in Bend, OR three years ago, and by last month every joint had opened back up. Switched to the cheap paintable latex stuff on the redo and it flexed right through a cold snap. Anybody else find the bargain caulk outlasts the pricey stuff on painted trim?

Doubt it's the caulk brand, more likely surface prep and paint.
