Vent: I was cutting crown molding wrong for a solid decade
I was installing some crown in a kitchen remodel last month and the homeowner, an older guy who used to be a trim carpenter, just watched me for a minute. He finally said, 'Son, you know you can cut that flat against the saw fence, right?' I always held it up against the miter saw table like it sits on the wall, which is a pain and never felt right. He showed me how to set the angles for a spring cut by laying the molding flat and using the bevel and miter settings together. My cuts went from needing tons of caulk to fitting tight in about two minutes. Has anyone else had a basic trick like that slip by them for way too long?

A decade of self-inflicted pain, classic.

Wait, so you've been basically doing a handstand with your miter saw for ten years? That's honestly kind of impressive in a stubborn, makes-things-way-harder kind of way. I bet that old guy went home and told his wife about the poor kid he saved from a lifetime of caulk. How did you never see that tip in a video or something?
