TIL a guy at a job site in Dayton showed me how to check for a bowed stud with a string line
I was framing a wall last month and fighting a bulge I couldn't see with my level. He ran a string line across the studs, and one of them was out by 3/8 of an inch. Now I keep a chalk line in my pouch. Anybody else use string over a straightedge for this?
