Spent 45 minutes fitting a cabinet door that was just 1/16th off
I was in a kitchen remodel last Tuesday over in Maplewood, working on a custom pantry. I hung this door, closed it, and the gap at the top was fine but the bottom rubbed against the frame. I checked the hinges twice, even swapped them out, nothing worked. Finally I took a straight edge to the door itself and realized the panel had warped just a hair from humidity sitting in the garage. I had to plane down the bottom edge by hand, about 1/32 of an inch, and re-stain that spot. It took me another 20 minutes but the door closed perfect after that. Has anyone else had a brand new piece of wood throw off their whole install like that?

Man, that's rough... humidity in the garage got me too last month.

Spent like three hours sanding down a whole bookshelf last summer and by the time I was done the wood felt kinda tacky from the air. Had to redo the whole thing with a dehumidifier running nonstop for two days. The worst part was the rust spots that showed up on my tools after, had to scrub those off with vinegar. Still find little fuzzy mold spots on stuff I stored in there if I don't check regularly. Idk maybe I should just accept that garage projects are a summer-only thing here.
