Spent 2 years cutting crown molding wrong until a old timer showed me the right way
I was always cutting it flat on the saw table because it felt easier and faster. Then a 60 year old finish carpenter named Mike at a job site in Denver pointed out my miters were always off by a degree or two. Has anyone else had that moment where a simple trick completely changed how you work?

...and that's the thing, isn't it? We all think we've got it figured out until someone shows us a better way. I've noticed that pattern everywhere - people just keep doing things the hard way because that's how they started, and nobody ever questions it. Mike probably didn't even think twice about showing you, but it probably changed your whole outlook on cutting trim.

...and it's like once you see it, you can't unsee it. That kind of stuff happens everywhere, not just in woodworking. I've had that with cooking - spent years cutting onions wrong until someone showed me the simple trick. It's funny how we spend so long fighting with something the hard way when there's usually a simple fix right there. Mike probably saved you a ton of wasted wood and frustration, which is basically a life lesson in itself.
