Old boss told me my miter saw cuts were off by 1/16th

I was framing out a basement in Nashville about two years ago and my boss had me redo three door headers because they were all off by a 16th. I thought it was fine since drywall would cover it, but he made me set up a stop block and check every cut with a square. After a week I got faster and stopped guessing my measurements. Has anyone else had a foreman force you to be more precise than you thought was needed?

Why did he make you redo them if drywall was going to cover it anyway?
