Learned the hard way that green wood moves after I glued up a $600 walnut table too soon
Three years ago I milled a walnut slab down to 1.75 inches and let it sit for just 6 days before glue up. The table sat in my shop in Boise for a month, and by the time I delivered it, two of the breadboard ends had pulled apart with a 3/16 inch gap. Now I sticker every board and check moisture with a cheap pin meter, waiting until it reads within 2% of the room. How long do you all let thick slabs sit before you trust them enough to cut joinery?
