Found a trick to fix warped 2x4s using just water and a c-clamp

I had a bunch of 2x4s from Home Depot that were twisted so bad I couldnt use em for framing. Read online about wetting the concave side and clamping it flat to a straight piece for 24 hours. Tried it on 3 boards last weekend and 2 of them came out usable. Anyone else salvage lumber this way or got a better method?

Ha! I'd argue you're just masking bad lumber instead of returning it like you should.

Oh man, yeah Ive been there. That trick works sometimes but honestly its like trying to straighten a crooked nail when you should just get a new one. I tried it with a bunch of pressure treated 4x4s for my deck and only about half of them stayed straight after a few weeks. The wood just wants to go back to its old shape once it dries out. I think the real issue is that home depot and lowes just let their lumber sit out in the weather way too long. Youre better off sorting through the pile yourself and picking boards that are already pretty flat. If you grab ones that are already warped in the store theyre probably never gonna be perfect no matter what you do to them.
