Found a trick for squaring up big cabinet boxes alone
I was building 48 inch tall cabinets and had nobody to help me hold the square while I tacked the back. I clamped a straight 2x4 diagonally across the back and adjusted it until the diagonals matched. Anybody got a better method for solo work like this?

That diagonal brace trick is actually a pretty common method among guys who build alone. I've done it myself on tall face frames and it works fine as long as you get those diagonal measurements exactly the same. What I started doing instead is using a framing square and a couple small spring clamps to hold it in place while I tack the corners. I also put a level across the front face to make sure it's not twisted before the glue sets. The secret is just taking your time and not rushing the dry fit.

Ha, you know what nobody's mentioned yet? If you're working alone and worried about the frame twisting, try tacking a scrap piece of plywood to the back of it before you even put the diagonal brace on. Just a couple screws into the back side of the frame will hold it flat and square way better than any brace. Then you can take your time with the diagonal measurements and clamps without fighting the whole thing trying to warp on you. Plus you can reuse that plywood scrap for your next project.
