A guy at the lumber yard said my truck rack was overkill, he had a point

Had a 2x4 load strapped down last Friday and an older contractor next to me laughed, said I built a bridge where a shelf would do. He showed me his simple pipe rack setup and honestly my welded steel box frame is way more than I need for residential jobs. Anyone else realize they overbuilt something early on and just keep rolling with it anyway?
