Took a $13/hr warehouse gig just to get my foot in the door, 9 months later I'm making $24 doing dispatch
I only applied because my cousin works there and he told me they promote from inside, and he was dead on. Anyone else get their start this way, or did you just apply straight for the job you actually wanted?
Getting in somewhere and working your way up beats sending resumes into the void any day. Back when I worked retail I started as a seasonal stock guy and moved into a lead spot in about a year, just because they knew my face and saw I showed up on time. People sleep on the inside track, but it works more often than folks want to admit.
