Thinking about how job interviews have changed since I started looking in 2019
Three years ago, I applied for a job at a local bookstore and the interview was just a chat with the owner in the back room. Last month, I helped a friend prep for a remote role, and we spent two hours on a practice video call with a prepared slide deck. Last week, I saw a posting for a similar store job that now requires a recorded video response before you even talk to a person. It feels like the whole process got a lot more complicated... Has anyone else noticed this shift in their field?

Video interviews for entry level roles are getting out of hand. A bookstore job shouldn't need a recorded pitch just to say you're available on weekends. Makes you wonder if places actually want to hire people or just make them jump through hoops.

My gym's front desk job now has a three-round interview process (it's wild).

Wait, is that for the front desk or for a manager spot? That seems like a lot for a basic job.
