The salary range on a job posting was 40k lower than what I actually got paid

Last month I applied to a role in Austin where the posting said $55k to $65k, but after two interviews they offered me $95k because the hiring manager said the range was outdated and they needed someone with my exact ERP background. I almost skipped applying because I thought I was overqualified and it would be a waste of time, so now I'm wondering how many other people filter themselves out based on posted numbers. Has anyone else been offered way more than the advertised range, or is this a rare fluke?
