The "quiet zone" office made me louder somehow

I went to a coworking spot in Austin last Tuesday for a client call. They had this huge sign saying "absolute silence" with a library vibe and everything. I walked in, sat down, and my chair squeaked like a dying goose every time I moved. Nobody said anything but I got 17 glares in 40 minutes. Has anyone else had a silent workspace backfire that bad?

Man, the second I sat down in one of those, my laptop bag unzipped itself and dumped pens all over the floor. The sound was like a thousand tiny bombs going off in a cathedral. I froze for a solid ten seconds, then just slowly gathered them one by one while my face turned the color of a fire truck. The worst part is I couldn't even apologize without whispering, and my whisper sounds like Darth Vader with a cold.
