The one piece of advice from a stranger in Cincinnati that stuck with me

I was networking at a small coffee shop near my old office about 5 years ago, and this older guy named Dave sat down next to me. He said, 'Don't chase the job title, chase the problem you want to solve every day.' At the time I was obsessed with becoming a manager, but he made me realize I actually liked fixing messy processes more. Has anyone else gotten a random career tip from a stranger that actually worked out?

Always thought chasing titles was the only move until I heard something similar from a plumber in a diner.

That plumber in a diner" line got me. Reminds me of this old electrician I met at a bus stop who told me the best job he ever had was cleaning pools in Arizona. Said he spent more time worrying about algae than any boss ever yelled at him.
