The 20 minute networking trick that got me a referral in 2 days

I used to spend hours messaging random people on LinkedIn with no results, so I tried sending 3 personalized emails each day instead of 20 generic ones. In two days I had a guy offer to refer me to his company because I mentioned his specific blog post about remote work struggles. Do you think quality over quantity is really the way to go for job hunting, or did I just get lucky here?

Wait, you messaged only 3 people a day and got a referral in 2 days? That's wild because most folks spam hundreds and get zero back. I guess taking time to read someone's blog actually makes them feel seen instead of just another number.

Gotta push back on this one... 3 people a day is just not enough volume if you're serious about results. I've tried the "quality over quantity" thing and sat there crafting these perfect messages for an hour only to get crickets. The math just doesn't work when you're sending 15 messages a week and hoping one lands. Most people who spam hundreds at least create enough chances for something to stick by accident. You gotta play the numbers game because people are flaky and busy and half of them won't even read your thoughtful message anyway.
