Rant: The whole "follow your passion" advice is ruining careers

I was at a networking event in Phoenix last month and heard a speaker tell a room full of 20-somethings to just chase what they love. I think it's reckless. I spent 3 years working dead-end floor install jobs before I went solo, and I didn't love every minute of it, but I learned the trade and made a steady check. Has anyone else seen people quit stable work to chase a dream and end up worse off?

Read somewhere that most of those "overnight success" stories had people working on their side hustle for years before it paid off, which kinda goes against the whole just quit and chase your dreams message. Seen too many folks burn through savings trying to make a passion project work only to end up back at square one.

Funny how that changes your whole view on hustle culture, doesn't it @john_hunt2?
