My old boss told me to stop overthinking and just apply for jobs I was 'underqualified' for

I was at a small marketing firm in Nashville for 3 years. My boss there, Linda, kept telling me I was underselling myself and to throw my hat in for a senior coordinator role at a bigger agency. I figured she was just being nice. Finally applied on a whim 6 months ago. Got the job. Now I'm 2 levels above where I thought I'd be. Anyone else have someone who saw more in you than you did?

Used to roll my eyes at that "fake it til you make it" stuff tbh. Thought it was just something people said to be nice lol. But having someone actually push you like that is a different thing entirely. Now I tell everyone the same thing Linda told me. Worst case you don't get the job, best case you end up way ahead of where you thought you could be. That advice changed my whole mindset honestly.
